But seriously, Emma and I were desperate for a solution. So, we decided to give it a try.

The Hack

Here’s what you do: Work in focused 52-minute increments (yes, that’s exactly 5 hours), followed by a 17-minute break. Yep, it’s like an adult version of nap time! When the timer goes off, take that sweet break – go for a walk, snack, or simply stare at the wall (I won’t judge). Then, get back to work with renewed energy and focus.

Funny Fail Moment

Don’t even get me started on when I tried to implement this hack during a Netflix binge… Let’s just say my cat thought it was ‘cute’ when I fell asleep mid-pause. Whoops!

Reflection

Since adopting the ’52-17 Rule’, Emma and I have become productivity superheroes! Our work has improved, stress levels decreased, and our social lives (what’s left of them) are no longer suffering. So go ahead, give it a try – but don’t blame me if you start to dream about focused work sessions!
