Shred Your To-Do List, Boost Your Productivity

Deleted all my productivity apps and somehow got my shit together

Personal Hook

I used to be that person who spent their entire weekends building the “perfect” productivity system, only to abandon it by Tuesday. It was like I had a PhD in procrastination. One day, I just said, “Screw it,” and deleted every last one of those pesky apps.

The Realization

It all started when I realized that my obsession with productivity apps was actually hindering my productivity. I’d get caught up in setting up the perfect workflow or tweaking some tiny detail, only to forget what it was for by Monday morning. It was like I had a bad case of shiny object syndrome, and those apps were just distracting me from getting actual work done.

The Hack

So here’s the hack: ditch the fancy apps and go old-school with physical notes and cards. Yeah, I know, it sounds crazy simple, but trust me on this one. Write down your to-dos on sticky notes (or even better, a few physical cards) and place them where you’ll see them – like on your keyboard or desk. The key is to make it impossible to ignore those reminders, just like you would with a Post-It note stuck to your monitor.

Funny Fail Moment

I tried using a planner once (yes, I know, it’s not exactly analog, but hear me out). I spent an hour setting up the perfect layout and then promptly lost it in my bag for three days. Let’s just say that was a productivity fail of epic proportions.

Reflection

And you know what? It actually works! By ditching those apps, I’ve been able to focus on actual work rather than getting bogged down in setup time or complicated workflows. Been doing this for a few months now, and I’m getting more done than ever before. Who knew that going old-school could be so… productive?
